Trauma-Informed Yoga & Somatic Integration

Our 4 week trauma-informed yoga courses are currently offered by Trauma-Informed Yoga for Clinicians certified facilitator, Sara Mackie. Sara’s classes offer participants a gentle, trauma-informed opportunity to meet their body in a safe space. Trauma-informed yoga classes are centered around the following principles:

  • Safety

  • Trust

  • Choice

  • Collaboration

  • Transparency

  • Empowerment

Postures and meditations presented in this class are mainly restorative and low-impact, allowing participants to practice navigating the nervous system activation connection with the body may bring up. Trauma-informed yoga acknowledges that trauma and stress are stored in our mind-body space and our tissues. Thus, certain postures and forms of instruction may cause a participant to experience hypervigilance, high emotionality, or shut down. This class aims to be a safe space to experience internal fluctuations while teaching self-soothing skills.

TESTIMONIALS

“If you’ve lived a trauma, recently or in the past, if you’ve done yoga before or not, I highly recommend you join this group. It’s a safe space to internally deal with yourself, realize that you are not alone, no matter what you are experiencing, it’s okay to feel the way you do! You can feel free to share your experience or not; you can close your eyes and feel free to deal with my trauma; I was not alone! No matter what you are dealing with, I highly recommend you join; it’s an hour to be mindful, and self healing. After the hour was over, I felt like I was walking on air! I learned that a big part of healing is to internally focus on yourself, and to find a way to live with your pain. You are not alone! Sign up and experience an hour that will really make a difference in your journey to healing”
